Lead Electronics Assembler
Summary
Performs electromechanical assembly work utilizing basic electronics industry tools, and typical industry written instructions sheets, blueprints and verbal directions. Direct Others as necessary to achieve company goals.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Perform electrical and electronic assembly of products including hand soldered circuit board assemblies using written instructions, blue print specifications, and industry standards.
- Create complete wire harness assemblies, via wire selection, cutting, stripping, crimping and tinning of wire per design blueprint specifications, schematics, wire lists and IPC standards.
- Assemble and rework Chassis, Cables, and Harnesses and cards including printed wiring boards, wire wrap, and surface mount methods.
- Perform Minor assemble chassis mechanically and wire using schematics and industry standards.
- Arrange flows of assembly operation.
- Populating and soldering PCB’s.
- Perform continuity checks of completed assemblies.
- Reworking of products per engineering change orders as necessary.
- Provide assistance with building electronic and mechanical prototypes and test fixtures.
- Layout of harnesses with and without harness boards.
- Integrate subassemblies into higher-level assemblies.
- Integration of electrical components into products.
- Ability to work with others and perform under a demanding schedule.
- Follows established departmental policies, procedures, and objectives, continuous quality improvement objectives, safety, and environmental standards.
- Performs miscellaneous duties as assigned including clean-up and department organization.
Minimum Job Requirements
High school diploma or GED; previous work experience required in Research and Development helpful. Previous experience certified to industrial standards for electronics industry preferred. Must possess management and/or leadership skills.
Knowledge, Skills, And Abilities Required:
- Ability to understand, read, and write English fluently.
- Computer literate.
- Liaison experience with vendors, engineers, and customers.
- Experience with turnkey and consignment products.
- Ability to assess skills in others and utilize skills effectively.
- Experience as lead or trainer for processes, procedure and methods.
- Ability to detect problems and report information to appropriate personnel, and help resolve issues.
- Ability to understand and follow common procedures (ie. safety, conduct, etc.)
- Ability to solder, crimp, lug, ink stamp, layout, and other tasks related to industry field.
- Previous solder certifications requested.
- Knowledge and use of typical hand tools and electrical, electronics tooling.
- Ability to read schematics, wire lists, blueprints, and parts lists.
- Ability to identify components (valves, polarity, part number) from schematic and parts list.
- Ability to work from engineering orders, including verbal instructions and sketches.
- Ability to lift and manipulate objects of bulk, odd shapes or weight of 50 pounds or less.
- Ability to perform simple arithmetic.
- Knowledge and experience with Electrostatic Discharge (ESD) Protocol.
- Knowledge and experience with wire wrapping a plus.
Distinguishing Characteristics:
Detail oriented, able to follow verbal and written instructions with good communication skills, and an ability to resolve conflicts.
Conditions of Employment:
- Successful candidate must submit to post offer, pre-employment physical examination/medical history check and background check.
- Proof of Eligibility to work in the United States.
Working Conditions and Physical Effort:
- Work involves moderate exposure to typical industry elements, such as dirt, dust, fumes, smoke, unpleasant odors, and loud noises.
- Moderate physical activity. Requires handling of average-weight objects and/or may involve sitting, standing, walking or working in odd positions, for periods of short or long duration.
- Work environment involves minimal exposure to risks typically related to this industry, such as working with chemicals, cleaners, soldering iron/molten metal.
