RPM has over 250 years of combined direct mechanical and electrical control engineering experience in pedestal and rotator design.
Established in 1975 as a privately held small business, Rotating Precision Mechanisms Inc. has since become regarded by the Commercial, Government, Military, and Scientific communities as one of the world’s preeminent suppliers of Antenna, Optical, and Sensor Positioning Systems, Sub-Systems and the Components thereof.
During the past 32 years, Rotating Precision Mechanisms Inc. (RPM) has produced over 1700 positioners, and continues to thrive today, averaging more than $12 million dollars per year in sales. Our sister company, Precision Specialties Inc. (PSI) was acquired in the fall of 1997. The two companies have since been fully integrated in terms of both personnel and product, the result of which has strengthened RPM’s ability to provide our customers with a broad range of precision Positioners, Controllers, and Accessories.
RPM’s expertise lies in providing complete, high quality, Single or Multi-Axis Positioning Systems and Controls to larger System Integrators in a timely and cost-effective manner. With a lean business structure and low overhead, RPM is able to operate in a totally competitive environment with industry at large, as well as in a cohesive intra-division business manner with customers.
RPM is an Original Equipment Manufacturing (OEM) organization whose broad range of Pedestals include designs for every environment, including ground based (fixed, vehicle mounted, and man-portable), shipboard, and airborne applications. These Positioning Systems are the building blocks for Telemetry, Radar, Satellite Communication, Air Traffic Control, Unmanned Aerial Vehicle, and various Test and Instrumentation Systems around the world. A vast array of sensors and antennas have been accommodated, ranging in size and speed from less than 1 foot to over 13 meter diameter reflectors moving from less than 1 degree per second, to over 50 degrees per second.
Rotating Precision Mechanisms Inc.’s Positioning and Control Systems have been designed to meet the environmental extremes of MIL-STD-810, MIL-E-16400 and MIL-E-4158, and have been produced within the quality standards of MIL-I-45208. This commitment to performance and quality has allowed RPM to assemble a large database of faithful customers.
